The CLI itself is the same binary; Pro features unlock when a license is present.
For Free and Pro Solo: no account, no telemetry. The license is a signed token you paste into contento pro activate; the CLI verifies it locally with no network call. For Pro Team, the same license token also signs you into the multi-site analytics dashboard at app.contento.sh — paste it once, set a session cookie, no email/password account required. The CLI still runs locally.
Yes. The Free tier is free forever. Cancelling Pro means your license expires at the end of the period; the CLI silently drops back to Free and your local data stays intact. You can reactivate anytime.
